Most solo developers are paying a cloud bill they don't have to pay. Google, AWS, Microsoft, Oracle, Cloudflare, and a dozen other providers have collectively set aside over $500,000 in free infrastructure credits, built specifically for builders who are not raising a round, not joining an accelerator, and not pitching anyone.
